This breed is an excellent sheep herding dog. The blood of the Dingo and the smooth coated Collie are in this dog's history. It has been used in Australia as a tireless guard dog needing little supervision. The Kelpie loves wide-open spaces and is the most common working sheep-dog in Australia and New Zealand today.
