Originally, the breed was developed as a working dog. It was used to hunt the fox in the rough highland areas. With exceptional endurance, the Border Terrier has the ability to follow a horse all day if asked. This is a nimble and sturdy breed able to track badgers and otters. Today, it is a valued companion having a highly sociable character.
