Akbash Dogs breed or breeds
The Akbash, from Turkey is used to guard sheep against predators. In America it is used to guard livestock from bears, coyotes, and wolves. Its known to be a fairly serious dog that's confident, an independent worker and extremely suspicious of strangers. Socialize with a family they can be loyal, affectionate and a great companion.
The Akbash is NOT registered with AKC, CKC, FCI and KC. They do have dog club associations and international registry.
The essential characteristics of the Akbash Dog are those that enable it to perform successfully as a livestock guardian. Akbash Dogs have the size, strength, and courage to challenge large predators and the speed and agility to chase fleet predators. Their temperament is calm, quiet, and steady. They are independent and capable of correctly responding to changing circumstances without human direction.

They have a very distinctive double white coat, that's weather resistant and stiff. They can either be long or short haired. Their head is large and their jaws powerful. The ears are triangular shaped but with slightly rounded tips. Their eyes are brown and almond shaped and their tail is long.
Easily housebroken, they learn quickly and often adapt well to their home environment. The Akbash Dog needs an experienced, firm, and consistent owner. The best owner for this breed would be an someone with the aforementioned characteristics living in a country setting.
