This breed was developed in 1870's by crossing the Pinscher, the Rottweiler, the Manchester, the Beauceron and the Greyhound. Used extensively for police work, the breed has been used in war time as patrol and guard dogs. A popular breed in the USA, the Doberman makes a loving companion dog. They are usually good with children, and they provide good protection.
