BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR DOG TRAINING CLASSES:

When calling trainers, please check for references or better yet, attend one of their classes to view how they are training the dogs and the dog's owners.
Dog training classes will help the owner to learn properly how to train their own dog. The dogs and the owners will learn how to socialize their dogs with other dogs and other people. Socialization is very important if you want your dog not to fear bite other dogs and other people. Puppies need to be use to other surroundings, other noises, other animals and other people. At the very least you should take a dog to basic and intermediate classes where the classes should amount to 10 training classes in basic and 10 classes in intermediate. The dog's owner will have to train their dog every day in-between all those classes to keep up or be ahead in the classes to make sure the dog will keep, hold and advance themselves from all the training. This will pay off BIG TIME in the long run.
If you have to call the dog a "STUPID DOG" then you may as well say it to the owner instead, as it is NOT the DOG'S FAULT they did not receive proper training from the owner.

Dog Training Tips

If you need information on training dogs, obedience lessons, tips from professional trainers, etc. then you are about to click on the right page. Dog breeders, and trainers can e-mail in their tips and get credit for the tip.

These training tips can be useful, but it is highly recommended that your dog not only receives socialization with other dogs and people but receive at least 2 obedience classes from professional trainers. After all, the quality time you spend with your dog is a lifetime investment.

All training tips are only suggestions. You should check out these suggestions with your vet or the breeder you bought your puppy from. You could join a dog kennel club locally in your local city. You could take professional training from a recommended trainer.

Start Puppy Training Immediately

Early dog lessons is not such a bad idea. Some people say the dog is too young to learn. In realistic terms it is you that is doing the learning. You are learning how to teach your dog obedience. You won't forget and you won't let your dog forget. As soon as your dog has had it's shots then it is time for training. Don't let yourself build up on bad habits with your new puppy. Research trainers at the time you are buying that puppy. Ask the breeder who is a good trainer in your area.

Tune Your Dog In Before Walks

Pottie Train Your Dog?

Ok, so its not a pottie.
Its a big chore when getting an older puppy.
The puppy should already be trained to do their job outside.
Take note of where the breeder has the puppy sleeping, eating and then
how far the door is away. If the door is very close then thats good for them.
If your door is far away then that's more trouble for you.

Write down the exact dog food the puppy is being feed by the breeder.
Do not change this dog food until you think you have some control over the dogs doings.
When you do change the food make sure you mix the food with another dog food very slowly.
Example, take a month to change over slowly.

Do not feed the puppy any bones or scraps from the table.
Do not give the dog any treats that will effect his food schedule.
Keep to 1 simple dog food until the dog is fully doing their job outside.
Don't give them a bone and go out for the day.
You'll have a mess when you get home.
Don't give the dog milk because you think he needs it.

You can give them dog vitamins recommended by your vet.
Using dry kibble dog food should be better than the canned food.
If that is what the breeder feed then stick to it. They sometimes stay
away from canned food for good reasons. NO mess! Inexpensive.

Ask the breeder what is their schedule for getting up in the morning and letting the puppies out for their job.
Your time will have to be the same for a while until you slowly change it to your preferred time.

You should immediately crate a puppy for sleeping quarters. The dog crate can be a larger crate but you must downsize it by inserting plywood or something to make the crate fairly small. Usually a dog will not sleep in its own doings.
They will make a noise or whimper a lot and try to hold it and listen for those noises.
This crate will be their safe place. No one bugs them while in their space.
Its their retreat place and sleeping quarters. If you have kids then they are to stay away from the crate.
Sometimes they retreat their to have a rest from kids pulling on their tails, ears, etc.

Times are very important. You can't sleep in on a Sat. morning and if you do
the dogs schedule will be ruined and you will undo what the dog has learned
all week.

The puppy should be comfortable with you and the home.
They should have their favorite blanket in their crate.

Make sure you take him out to the actual spot you want your yard ruined.
Make the puppy stays in a certain area.
That means you walk out with the puppy each time.

If the breeder had newspapers down then you might have to put newspaper by the doorway for a few days.
If the breeder was using an old vinyl floor then you could purchase a scrap piece and put it near the door or outside.
When you see the puppy head for newspaper, or vinyl floor then quickly take him out the doorway. Even if the puppy is just sniffing.

If you play with the puppy, expect you are working it out of the little one.
After 5 minutes of play the puppy will look for a spot.
Keep them close to the doorway.
When you take them out of the crate, immediately take them outside to
that special spot in your well groomed yard. That special spot in the yard might have newspapers.
The special spot might have vinly flooring or what ever the breeder had in
their littler box.

The main thing is
1. crate in quiet area but close to a door (at 1st)
2. same food
3. same timing schedules for a while
4. vitamins
5. de-worming (see vet)
6. comfortable surroundings (no loud, spooky noises)
7. a companion toy in his crate
8. a blanket

These are only suggestions. Take suggestions from breeder as well. If a breeder wants to remove the letter above and install a better one, then send it in. If a breeder wants to add their suggestions, then send them in.
