A breed developed by crossing the Bloodhound and the Basset, the Harrier resembles the Beagle. The Harrier is larger and stronger, but it has that same good sense of smell as the Beagle. The Harrier is used when hunting the rabbit on horseback because its speed kept the rabbit running in a straight path. Later the Harrier was crossed with the Foxhound to give it more speed
