This is a very spirited breed of dog. Being friendly and loving, this breed makes an excellent house dog if trained properly. The breed is not used extensively in the field as a hunting dog. They are excellent with children. This was a popular breed in the 50's and 60's. Because of the over production, some families developed a hyperactivity that was difficult to control. The show ring is being presented with quiet, highly trainable dogs in the 90's.
