Kings County K9 Academy is owned and operated by Duke Ferguson.

Duke is a graduate of Animal Behavior College of Northridge, California, where he studied Canine Behavior and became certified as an ABC Dog Obedience Trainer. Duke is also a graduate of Canada West Canine Centre of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, where he studied all levels of obedience, utility, kennel management, temperament testing, dog care, behavior problems, personal protection, attack dog training, detection training (drugs, bombs), security and guard dog training. Upon graduating from Canada West Canine Centre, he received a certification in Canine Obedience & Kennel Management as well as becoming a certified Master Trainer. While attending The Atlantic Police Academy's Conservation Enforcement program in Prince Edward Island, Duke trained as a conservation officer and during OJT was placed in Nova Scotia where he worked with the Conservation Enforcement K9 Unit. In addition, he has trained dogs for hunting and retrieving for many years.
