Originally, this miniature Chinese breed was loved and honored by royalty. They were always held in high regards and never asked to work. The British brought the breed back to England in 1860 where royalty bred these dogs to be what we know them to be today. A loving companion, the tiny dog is not friendly with strangers. It is still very popular in the USA.
