The soft-coated Wheaten Terrier is over 200 years old. A breed known to the poor of Ireland, the Wheaten was very popular being used to hunt the otter and badgers. He is a gentle and loyal house dog that can be provoded into fighting if necessary. This breed develops to maturity at about 2 years of age. Any trimming of the Wheaten's coat should be done with scissors.
